Hi, I’m nancy halsema

I have been creative for as long as i can remember. As a child, whenever the wheater was bad i was drawing and creating small artworks in my room, and that passion has stayed with me until today. Creating art remains one of the most important and fulfilling parts of who i am.

I like to explore new techniques and continuously learn which materials, styles, and approaches work best for different subjects and artworks. Most of the techniques I use today are self-taught, developed through experimentation and a desire to keep growing as an artist.

Next to being an artist, i have worked as a technician in research laboratories for over 22 years. In this profession creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving is key and these qualities help me also in my artistic process.

My Approach

1. Initial Conversation

We start with a free of charge conversation to discuss your story, ideas and wishes for the artwork.

2. Concept Development

Based on our conversation, I develop initial concepts that translate your story into visual form. Usually very basic with the outlines, shapes, colos and technique to use.

3. Proposal & Quotation

Once we have agreed on a direction, I make up a quote outlining the concept, possible materials, techniques and a rough timeline.

4. Approval

Work begins once the concept and quotation have been approved by you. You have all the room to still make adjustments or change the directions.

5. Creation

I create the artwork using the techniques and materials we agreed on.

6. Progress Updates

Especially for larger or more complex commissions, I share updates throughout the process to ensure the work develops in line with your expectations.

7. Completion & Delivery

Once the artwork is finished, it is carefully prepared for delivery, installation, or shipping. If framing was requested the additional fee will be quoted upfront as well.

Because I work with a variety of materials and methods, each artwork is priced individually based on size, materials, complexity, and technique. After the initial consultation and concept phase, I provide a detailed quote for the complete project. More information about pricing and fees can be found on the pricing page.
