childerens drawings image transfer collage

This work is currently in progress and is being created using a Gelli printing image transfer technique.

The composition is built from a collection of drawings made by the client's two children. These drawings are transferred into a large-scale collage measuring 150 × 100 cm. The process creates an effect that is reminiscent of posters and printed graphics, while maintaining the character of the original drawings.

I am working with a limited colour palette. This helps create a unity throughout the piece while giving the overall composition a more and balanced appearance.

The prints are created using acrylic paint and a non-stick gel plate, which allows multiple layers and textures of paint to be built up over time. Once all the layers have been developed, they are printed onto heavyweight paper.

The result will be a large, personal collage that brings together the children's drawings in a new visual context.
